The short version
If you are a fee‑paying client of Barrett Mortgages and you recommend someone to us who also becomes a fee‑paying client on a new mortgage, we will pay you £50 once their case completes.
That is the whole idea. The rest of this page sets out the detail.
Who can take part
- You must be a fee‑paying client of Barrett Mortgages Limited.
- The person you refer must be new to us — not an existing or former client, and not someone already in contact with us about a case.
- The person you refer must go on to become a fee‑paying client in their own right.
- The referral must be for a new mortgage case. Protection and insurance‑only referrals do not qualify.
How it works
- Tell the person you are recommending to mention your name when they get in touch, or tell us their name yourself so we know to expect them.
- We speak to them and, if we can help, we take them on as a client in the usual way.
- Once their case completes, we pay you the £50 by cheque or bank transfer, whichever you prefer.
There is nothing to sign up to and nothing to claim — we keep track at our end.
The conditions
- The payment is £50 per referral, and one payment is made per person referred. A joint application counts as one referral.
- The payment is made on completion, by cheque or bank transfer. If the case does not complete, no payment is due, however far it got.
- The referral must qualify. We may decline a referral payment where the case does not meet the criteria for the scheme, including where the case size or the fee charged does not support it. If we are not going to pay on a particular referral we will tell you.
- We can change or withdraw the scheme at any time, without notice. Where we do, it will not affect a referral that has already completed and qualified.
- The scheme is run at our discretion. It is a thank you, not a contract, and it does not create any entitlement to a payment or any obligation on us to take on the person you refer.
- Taking part does not change the advice we give, the fee we charge, or the recommendation we make — to you or to the person you refer. We recommend what is right for the client, every time.
- The payment is made to you personally. If it is taxable in your circumstances, that is a matter for you.
- Barrett Mortgages Limited staff and their immediate families are not eligible.
A word on how we use names
If you give us someone’s name and contact details, please make sure they are happy for you to do so. We will only ever use those details to get in touch about a mortgage or protection enquiry, and they can ask us to stop at any time. See our privacy policy for what we do with personal information.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you are not sure whether a referral qualifies, just ask us before you make it — we would much rather tell you up front.
